The TU509 is an S500 interface terminal unit for the AC500 PLC platform, designed for communication interface modules such as PROFIBUS modules. It provides a 24 V DC base with screw terminals, a D-sub 9 connector for the fieldbus network and 30 terminals for signals and process supply voltages.
Communication interface modules plug into the terminal unit and are secured with two mechanical locks; all connections are established through the terminal unit, so modules can be removed and replaced without disturbing field wiring. Process supply terminals UP/UP3 carry +24 V DC and ZP carries 0 V with a fixed assignment independent of the inserted module.
Typical applications include PROFIBUS and serial fieldbus communication stations in AC500/S500 automation systems, mounted on DIN rail or by two wall-mounting screws.
