The ABB TU507-ETH is an Ethernet interface terminal unit for the AC500/S500 distributed I/O system. It is the mechanical and electrical wiring base specifically designed for ABB Ethernet communication interface modules (for example the CI501-PNIO), carrying all signal and process-supply wiring for the station. All connections are made on the terminal unit, so the plugged-in communication module can be removed and replaced without disturbing the field wiring.
The unit provides two RJ45 Ethernet sockets (8-pole, 10/100 base-TX, depending on the inserted CI5xx module) with indication LEDs for the network connection, plus a 10-pin female I/O bus connector for the adjacent terminal unit. It carries 30 screw terminals for signals and the 24 V DC process supply: terminals 1.8/2.8 are UP (+24 V DC), terminal 3.8 is UP3 (+24 V DC) and terminals 1.9/2.9/3.9 are ZP (0 V); the remaining channel assignment follows the inserted Ethernet module, in 3 groups of up to 8 channels (max. 24 channels). The terminal unit is rated for a maximum total current of 10 A through the supply terminals (UP, UP3 and ZP).
The TU507-ETH uses screw terminals; the spring-terminal equivalent is the TU508-ETH (an XC eXtreme Conditions spring version, TU508-ETH-XC, is also available). It mounts horizontally or vertically on a 35 mm top-hat DIN rail (IEC 60715) or directly on the wall via two mounting holes (M4 screws), with direct grounding through the DIN rail or the mounting screws. The terminal unit is an Active lifecycle product in the ABB AC500/S500 automation platform.
